Bobby Valentine was celebrated in typical Sox fashion.  Dan Shaughnessy, mouthpiece of the regime, tossed a softball to Ben Cherington to clear up the rumors that there was disagreement with ownership.  Then Ben repeated his answer (almost word for word) twice.  Everyone’s happy.  Everyone loves each other.  Hope and good cheer is restored at Fenway.

In the Boston.com blog, Extra Bases, it was reported that Terry Francona was frustrated that his alleged drug use came up in his interview with te St. Louis Cardinals.  The ubiquitous anonymous sources dropped that bomb when Tito allegedly ‘resigned’ after the season.

Shiny, perfect press conferences on the front end.  Reputation-smearing leaks on the back end.  Pretty good picture of the state of the Red Sox these days.
